Gerry Donnelly is the President and CEO of The Morton Arboretum, in Lisle, Illinois, USA, near Chicago. Trained as a botanist and forest ecologist, he has led the substantial growth of an organization that now ranks as a leader among arboreta of the world.
Gerry has played leadership roles with the American Public Gardens Association, the Directors of Large Gardens network, and the Advisory Board of the Center for Public Horticulture at the University of Delaware. He has led the establishment of ArbNet, a professional network of arboreta, and spearheaded a partnership with Botanic Gardens Conservation International to promote participation in the Global Trees Campaign among arboreta throughout the world. He is a member of the Global Tree Specialist Group of the IUCN Species Survival Commission, and was recently elected to the board of the International Association of Botanic Gardens.
